Big money spinning movie releases... the strategy behind it?

Of late, any new movie poster or column you reviewed would have caught ur attention with a line at the top saying the total money that the movie has earned ...... secondly if u try looking back into the recent past , u might well figure out that there are quite a few of them had made a mark in the history of all time top grossers... bollywood or hollywood.... Distribution companies are adopting new release strategies which were once thought to be expensive and out of minds.
movies are no longer required to run a lenght of time ( say 50 or 100 days) to be a top grosser...... distribution companies look to recover the money in a short time possible and in some cases get the money advance... here is how the strategy works
1. Expense Hyping : production houses create enormous amount of hype for the movie in tv channels and other medium before the actual release has happened. the effect that this has on the consumer is to create a "short lived aggressive demand ". this type of demand aims to create a desperation and thereby allows no trade offs to happen in terms of time period to watch the movie or watchin alternatives.
2. Prod house transfers risk to distribution houses who now need to be aggressive to make the movie earn . to cash in on the demand, which is aggressive and short lived, the dist. houses do simultaneous releases worldwide in as many screens as possible to cater to this type of demand.. consumers watch the movie simultaneous, hence a chance of any bad review of one customer upon an another to prevent them from watchin the movie is reduced. secondly the time period of interest of prospect coincides with more availability of tickets, i.e the interest tapers down when the prospect is unable to get tickets or watch early or hears reviews and becomes dissatisfied..... third, people tend to watch the movie very early even before they get the hear the first review from a friend..... hence more chances for bad movies to make good money. and finally the mass that this hype gathers would pull new and different people into watchin the movie each and every time such a movie is about to be released....

in few words, market as identified piracy and critical people as two major threats to movies, they race time to prevent loss from piracy, hence screening more shows at high price is the big money plan.... and when racing against time, they can fight Word of mouth Reviews of critical people who make or break the interests of the prospects. movies in the near future will out do each other in earnings and it will never speak about the quality of the movie. unless ur a fanatic, wait for reviews..they give u the best insight and dont worry about tickets, long live the internet. if this can get any better, ur tv channels will be a part of worldwide releases too.. believe me ... everybody loves watchin movies..... @ theatre, in DVD's, in Tv channels as a release... there is always money when people watch wat u broadcast.......
